What I Wore: Librarian Lynx

I was lucky enough to receive this fabulous faux-lynx coat as a gift recently.  It passed through quite a few hands to get to me and I am very appreciative!!!  I’ve been coveting a lot of faux fur pieces lately and this is just perfect, not to mention WARM!  Form and function?  Awesome.

(Also, not shown in all of its glory here, is The Boyfriend’s latest drawing for his Thesis Exhibition.  More on this soon!!!)

I also found these slouchy boots while scouring thrift stores with my mom on Black Friday.  Not a bad day for thrift stores, at all!  🙂  I found them for $3.50 and never worn.

Beauty: The Fifth Element

Posted in Beauty by Ciara on November 18, 2009

I just watched The Fifth Element for the first time in several years.  I remember being captivated by the styling and attention to detail in the film.  This time, I picked up on some great beauty details.

The instant makeup kit that LeeLo uses…

Though I don’t know of anything quite this advanced, I have been curious to try products with a similar appeal lately like the ColorOn Pro Instant Eye Shadow Kit.

I also loved the nailpolish on Zorg’s secretary…

… so I got inspired.

Dog – meet Clark!  This is his Halloween shirt 🙂  He likes to dress up like his mom.

Getting over this *super-fun* flu I’ve had is making me crave comfort clothes…  sort of.  One cannot make an outfit out of lounge wear, well, not an outfit to wear out of the house anyway.  So, I made due with a LOT of super-soft jersey and a few favorite, bright pops of color.

What I Wore: Silver Lining

Posted in What I Wore by Ciara on September 16, 2009

The weather lately has been beyond dreary in this particular area’s typical way.  I have a love/hate relationship with rainy weather.  It is definitely good for naps and lie-ins or burrowing away in the studio starting outlandish projects one may or may not finish… (i.e. my new knitting project).  A slick, cloudy day is also very good for a little weather-inspired game of dress-up.

Tank – Old Navy, Tunic – Target, Cardigan – thrifted, Scarf – gift, Silver Flats – thrifted, Dog – Awesome!

Made from grandmother’s engagement ring.

I’ve also gotten some productivity in today – more or less completely cleaning out my digital clutter – music, media, projects, etc.  Yay!

What kind of activities do you occupy yourself with on a gray, drizzly day?  Let me know in the comments!

What I Wore: Fibula

Posted in What I Wore by Ciara on September 14, 2009

Tonight I am throwing a bit of an impromptu bash –  a casual, intimate gathering of close friends who need no excuse to celebrate…  uh, Monday!  So before the Bloody Marys starting flowing I wanted to get a quick outfit post in.

The strange piece of costume jewelry holding my cardigan together is something I acquired when I did a lot of theater.  It is a pretty strange piece, for which this photo does no justice.  I liked it with my gold shoes (which you also can’t see well in this picture…  I’ll get some detail shots soon – ran out of time today!)

Anyway…  time to be a hostess.  Have a great Monday night!

Welcome Mat

Hello and welcome to Style Fuss!

I’ve been blogging for nearly ten  years now (wow) on-and-off using different sites and subject matter.  For the past few years I’ve been more or less addicted to what began as a handful of fashion blogs and now has become an out-of-control number of fabulous blogs I add to on a daily basis (some of my consistent favorites are listed in my Blogroll).

I’m an illustrator with a BFA in Graphic Design.  I have plans for grad school in something fashion related but I’m having a tough time narrowing it down!  There are so many aspects of art and fashion that I would love to get my hands dirty with!

I have always loved fashion – raised in the studio of my mother and grandmother, a team of independent fashion designers, I really had no choice but to relish in the fashion world since birth.

I want this blog to be a place to celebrate everything I love about fashion as well as how it integrates so seamlessly with art and culture.  I also want to use this blog to become a part of the fabulous community of fashion bloggers that I have come to love over the past few years.

I would love as much feedback as possible and I hope that you, future readers, will help me create a sense of community here at Style Fuss.

The bottom line is – Fashion is fearless, fun, and definitely something to make a fuss about!

xoxo
