What I Wore: The Owls Are Not What They Seem
Life has been Lynchian as of late… I thought I might dress the part.
My favorite garment to bring out in the spring is my beloved owl skirt. It has actually been requested by friends lately as it seems to be their favorite as well. It was purchased in a church basement thrift store in a $1 bag sale during high school. It has seen many incarnations since. Playing it up a little more ladylike is how the owl skirt fits in this spring.

What I Wore: Outfits from this week
We have had the strangest weather – from bright, sunny and 65 to wet and snowy (?!) – all in a matter of days. Asheville is treating us well and is beginning to feel like home. I haven’t done an outfit post in a while (what photographable outfit does one wear while moving and unpacking, anyway? haha) so here are a few things I wore this week.
What I Wore: Rodarte for Target
Beret – AA
Tunic – thrifted
Cardigan – Rodarte for Target
Belt – Old Navy
Slashed/Crocheted Leggings – Target via D.I.Y.
Tights – Bitten by SJP
Boots – Steve Madden
What I Wore: Librarian Lynx
I was lucky enough to receive this fabulous faux-lynx coat as a gift recently. It passed through quite a few hands to get to me and I am very appreciative!!! I’ve been coveting a lot of faux fur pieces lately and this is just perfect, not to mention WARM! Form and function? Awesome.
(Also, not shown in all of its glory here, is The Boyfriend’s latest drawing for his Thesis Exhibition. More on this soon!!!)
I also found these slouchy boots while scouring thrift stores with my mom on Black Friday. Not a bad day for thrift stores, at all! 🙂 I found them for $3.50 and never worn.
What I Wore: Halloween
Halloween was AMAZING! My best friend is up visiting me and he and I and The Boyfriend put together some pretty fun costumes. I was inspired by a slashed top from Rodarte Spring 2009. I remember seeing it on Karen O on the cover of Nylon’s June/July 2009 Music issue and even back during those still hot days of summer my costume idea began to take shape.
(Pardon the low quality of my one full outfit picture – cell phone pic was the only one that kinda turned out.)
My bestie and me.
My zombie boyfriend.
I hope everyone had a great Halloween! We certainly did!
Halloween (Eve) Inspiration: Eraserhead
My best friend, Dalton, is here visiting and so I don’t have the time to make a huge post but… I didn’t want to leave you hanging, so here is my look for tonight. This is not my Halloween costume or really a costume at all I just got inspired by my favorite film, David Lynch’s Eraserhead.
We’ve been making things for our costumes all day today so tomorrow promises to be incredible! I hope to have a lot of pictures to share. Have an amazing weekend!
What I Wore: Jersey Devil
Cardigan – Lacoste (thrifted)
Tee – Bitten by SJP
“Skirt” – AA Circle Scarf
Bag – Betseyville by Betsey Johnson
Gold shoes – Charlotte Russe (thrifted)
Dog – meet Clark! This is his Halloween shirt 🙂 He likes to dress up like his mom.
Getting over this *super-fun* flu I’ve had is making me crave comfort clothes… sort of. One cannot make an outfit out of lounge wear, well, not an outfit to wear out of the house anyway. So, I made due with a LOT of super-soft jersey and a few favorite, bright pops of color.
